GOOD HUMOR

Talk about a consistent brand. The Good Humor look created almost 100 years ago is still cool, today. I love the trucks and the big freezer with the thick walls and special hatches you reach into to get ice cream.

I never noticed the symbol on the hat before. It’s got wings.…

GORGE CHALLENGE

Eat 109 pounds of meat in one hour and win $2000. You can bring some friends so you each only need to eat about 11 pounds. Imagine taking a week or two worth of food and swallowing all of it within about an hour. I suppose that works fine if you are a python. If you break it down it’s the equivalent of eating a meatball every twenty seconds.

I don’t know if anyone ever won it and survived. If they did, the diner won’t let them compete again. I don’t know what their policy is on seconds or if they serve dessert with it. My guess is that you don’t finish your 109 pound burger you don’t get dessert

This challenge reminds me of the Monty Python “Mr.Creosote” scene from The Meaning of Life.

Below is a link to the “Mr.Creosote” scene. Be warned that if you watch this you will never forget it. It is brilliant and very likely, the most revolting thing you will ever see. It’s totally “Python.”

Click below to see this most remarkable scene, it begins in a very upscale restaurant with a lovely song by the piano player.

Again, be warned You cannot “un-see” this.

Enjoy your after dinner mint.

SPAGHETTI SPECIALIST

Where do all these wires go? It’s a tangle of colored wires coming from somewhere and going somewhere. They are all part of the legacy system affectionately known as POTS, Plain Old Telephone System. Your landline phone (if you still have one) is literally connected by a line (a wire) that runs along the land to other wires that connect to other phones..

I’ve wired phones in my house. There are only a few wires and it took me a while to figure out which ones go where. Try figuring out this spaghetti.

GENEROSITY

People are generally pretty generous and giving. If we have plenty of what we need we are happy to share with others. Sometimes we think we should get something in return (money!!) but often our heart goes out to those in need and we offer our valuables with no expectation of reciprocity.…

WHOSE TURF?

It’s not a fair race. Not even close. One could never beat the other.
Which one wins depends on where the race is held. A road or a muddy field?

KITTY KARE

We live in a world of service. Many people recognizing needs and fulfilling them. Sometimes we may not even know we have a need until someone offers to help.

A couple of astute entrepreneurs saw something that some people need but haven’t yet realized. Cats have feelings and can benefit from some positive attention.

Their owners may benefit, too.…

THE RIGHT TO BEAR MEGA BLASTERS

Are they covered by the 2nd amendment? Should they be regulated? What about open carry?

Questions we fear to ask, lest we trample constitutional rights, but asking the questions is just opening a dialog. Right? Some things need to be brought out into the open.

Mega blasters are proliferating at an unprecedented scale. We trust that the owners are level headed and responsible there is always the possibility that these weapons of mass saturation may get into the hands of children who may act impulsively.

GROWTH INDUSTRY

Americans excel at some things. Leading the world and being so far out in front that it is hard to imagine anyone ever catching up.

The things we excel at have changed over time. Maybe we aren’t the smartest, the most democratic, the most tolerant, the kindest, most equal, healthiest, leanest or the happiest bunch but we are exceptional at proliferating. We got stuff. Lottsa stuff.

We got so much stuff we can’t fit it all in our attics, basements and garages. Even our rented storage spaces fill up.

Storage rental is a 40 billion dollar a year industry. Almost real money. Storage space, just for storing stuff, is about 1.9 billion square feet. That would be more than 55 Frenchtowns chock full of extra stuff not being used.

But never fear, an army of entrepreneurs are on the job doing what needs to be done. Throwing shit away. Instead of storing for later use (maybe) it’s being forever stored in ginormous mounds or being reduced to ash, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and bunches of other non breathable gases.

What is life without stuff? Living.…

REMOTE WORK

Offices can be highly efficient. Heated, cooled, networked, centralized, hierarchical, governed and moderated.

Most have a microwave for heating up last night’s leftovers. And coffee. Lots of coffee. Maybe some real cream and occasional donuts.

They are designed for the daily grind with just the right amount of lumens from the cool white fluorescent lights to read what’s on paper and to see your computer screen. It’s all about focus and productivity. All designed to get the job done. America runs on productivity.

What could be better?…
