EMERGING ARTISTS

I sometimes wonder why there seem to be a lot of artists in Frenchtown. I discovered why after some recent rains. It turns out they are native. Many of them are still in the early aquatic larval stage and are unrecognizable, but as they grow and mature you can tell what they are.

At a certain point in their development they suddenly lose their gills and rise to the surface. It can be a difficult process suddenly losing your ability to breath. But they somehow figure out they just need to come to the surface and get out of the water.

Often they have clothes on. I called some ichthyologist about this to ask why and they hung up on me.

Maybe they didn’t know either and were embarrassed.
